COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this course, students will experience a variety of genre, including historical fiction, science fiction, realistic fiction, memoir, newspaper writing, comparative essay, and persuasive essay. The study of grammar, usage, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling is integrated throughout the course. Students will write a variety of essay forms including a research paper. This general education curriculum will be followed for Enrichment Language Arts students. Accommodations and modifications will be made when necessary to ensure that the students are successful.

COURSE EXPECTATIONS
- Come to class prepared: pencil, ELA folder, paper
- Students will be required to have a reading book at all times. They may get this book from home, the school library, or my classroom. Students will be silent reading 3-5 times per week in class and will have conferences with me to guide comprehension. The students are expected to read outside of class as well.
- I update PowerSchool each Sunday night. Every Monday, the students and I go over their grades.
